2018 Subaru Legacy Review, Price, Specs
Subaru has established its reputation by using standard all-wheel drive throughout its lineup and providing superior value propositions with the goal of achieving the highest possible safety assessment. So it’s not surprising that the company follows this strategy in legacy as a way to succeed in the highly competitive market segment. It is one of the few sedans in its class that offers all-wheel drive for less than $ 30,000 and has received the highest crash test ratings from both US agencies conducting such tests. However, we are struggling with other indicators. Its performance on the track and in everyday driving is unimpressive, the interior design and materials are outdated, and Subaru’s family sedans lack some of the luxury features common to other mass-market vehicles.
What’s New in 2018
The Legacy was updated in 2018 with some tweaks to the exterior and various changes to the interior, infotainment system and safety equipment. On the exterior, there is a lower and wider grille and tailpipe that are newly integrated into the rear design. The Legacy chassis has also been improved for a quieter ride. Following the image of SUBARU with a high level of safety awareness, a back camera equipped with a grid line that moves when the steering wheel is turned as standard equipment and adaptive headlamps are newly set.

Engine, transmission, performance
The Legacy’s base, the horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT), do not spur the race. The 175-horsepower 2.5-liter engine is on the low side of its class when it comes to power, approaching enthusiasm and without the motivational grunts of Legacy. The 256 horsepower 3.6 liter flat 6 engine is also combined only with the CVT, but has many of the same problems as the entry level engine in this car. The biggest problem: Despite its displacement and promising horsepower rating, the 6-cylinder Legacy feels off line and slow. Interior, comfort, and cargo
The Legacy interior was updated in 2018 with new materials, a brand new steering wheel and minor adjustments to the information display. Due to the low base price of entry-level models, it’s not surprising that most desirable features such as heated seats, leather interiors, and dual-zone climate control are legacy and cost extra. All sedans in this segment are very similar in size and structure, so the Legacy reaches the lower limit of the cargo hold scale, but not far from the best in its class. Infotainment and connectivity
Subaru’s touch screen infotainment system is easy to use with large, colorful graphics and quick response times. Legacy’s standard infotainment system consists of a 6.5-inch touch screen with Bluetooth. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB port, auxiliary input jack. An 8.0-inch touch screen is available and can be equipped with navigation and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. All trim levels except the base model come standard with four USB ports.
