How to add columns in Google Sheets on Android

Google sheets can be used on phones and computers. Sheets do not have the full range of capabilities of Excel, but according to some users, it works well with the touch interface of a mobile. Although it is not likely to use sheets to manage large datasets or do any serious computation, it can be used on the go. Google sheets can be used offline or they can sync with a Google Drive.

What are Google Sheets?

Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet app that lets you create and format spreadsheets. It is a web design application that enables users to create, update and modify spreadsheets and share the data online in real-time. Google’s products offer typical spreadsheet features, which are, the ability to add, delete and sort rows and columns.

Steps to Add/Sum columns on Google Sheets on Android:

  • Enter your data
  • Tap the cell where you want to add data
  • Tap the formula bar at the bottom of the screen
  • Type: ‘=sum(‘
  • This is easy to do with Autofill

Steps to Add/Sum in Google Sheets app on iPhone or iPad:

  • Open spread in the Google Sheets app
  • Highlight the cells you want to calculate
  • At the bottom, you’ll see a row of calculations. Sum. Average. Maximum. Minimum
  • To calculate, drag it to a cell
