Want to set Conversation priority on an Android device to organise your messages? Know how

An important change to the way notifications work in the latest version of the Android Operating System (OS) has been made by Google. You will be able to organise your messages in a better way in apps like texting, WhatsApp, Slack and others if you have Android 11 or the latest version.

All your conversations can now appear in their section, which will be separate from other notifications. This way, the conversations will not be mixed with other notifications.

If you are wondering how to set Conversation priority on an Android device to organise your messages, then don’t worry. We have got you covered.

Here’s how you can set Conversation priority on an Android device to organise your messages

You can use the default settings for Android 11’s conversation priority as per your requirements. You can choose from the three priority levels:

– Default: In the default option, the notification will appear in the order it occurred. You will hear a notification only if your preferences are configured for that.

-Priority: As the name suggests, messages will always appear at the top of the Conversation notifications.

-Silent: The messages will arrive silently and will appear at the bottom of the Conversation notification. Messages won’t have a notification sound.

Follow these steps to control this setting

Step 1: Swipe down to see the notifications. You will have to swipe a conversation partially to the left till you notice the Settings icon. It will be shaped like gear.

Step 2: Now, tap the Settings icon and select the priority you wish to select. It can be priority, default and silent, and then tap ‘Apply’.

You can also customise notifications about specific conversations. For example, you can choose whether conversations should appear as bubbles over other apps, change the notification sound and can also instruct your phone if you don’t want any conversation to appear in the Conversation notification at all.

Step 1: Go to the Settings option and tap ‘Apps and notifications’.

Step 2: Tap ‘Conversations’. A list of conversations that you have recently modified will appear on the screen.

Step 3: Tap the conversation that you wish to customise. You can also change many aspects of the conversation. You can alter the priority of the message at the top of the page. It will determine how it will appear in the Conversation notification.

Step 4: Select ‘All Bubble settings’ to control whether the conversation can bubble. If you don’t want it to appear in your Conversation notification, then tap ‘Not a Conversation’.

Step 5: You can also use the ‘Advanced’ option for additional options such as notification sound and, if you wish, that your conversation should appear on the lock screen.
